The first condition is easy: Slot cars don't work on Slotless tracks and
Slotless cars don't work on slot tracks.
The exception to this rule is Aurora Screechers Magna-Steering cars, which
are slot cars without a guide pin. They use magnets on the pick-up shoes to steer the car around
curves. These cars will not make it through a Thunderjet wiggle track, no matter how slow you go.
But they will work on slot or slotless tracks.
-
The second condition is also simple: Matchbox cars and tracks only work
with Matchbox cars and tracks.
Matchbox used a narrower standard for their power rails so other brands of
cars do not work on their tracks, without changing pickup shoes to reach in closer toward the slot.
Inversely, their cars need shoes that extend outward from the slot to reach the rails of other brands
of track.
-
The third condition is: Tyco X-treme slot cars work only on Tyco X-Treme
tracks.
These cars and tracks are designed with a T groove rather than a pin slot.
The chassis can be modified to accept a guide pin and be used on standard slot track.
-
The fourth condition applies to one piece of track made by Aurora Thunderjet
and is: the blow-out track.
The Blow-Out track will jam when multiple guidepin vehicles such as AFX
Semis or Tyco Turbo Trains are used on it. It will also jam if the same lane is tripped three
times in a row without the other lane being tripped.
-
The fifth condition applies to Aurora AFX Specialty Dragsters and Aurora AFX Magna-Traction Specialty Dragsters.
Aurora AFX Specialty Dragsters and Aurora AFX Magna-Traction Specialty Dragsters are only good for straight
line racing. They do not make loops, banks, hills, humps, wall crawls, inversions, hairpins, or even common curves with
a guardrail.
-
The sixth condition applies to Ideal TCR Slot cars.
Ideal TCR Slot cars come with a wider than standard guide pin which needs
to be modified or replaced to be used on other brands of tracks.
-
The remainder of Car to Track compatibility is probably easier to explain and
understand by the specialty tracks made by various manufacturers that limit the use of some brands
and/or models of vehicles.
These limitations apply to stock vehicles, most vehicles can be modified or
altered to make these limitations less applicable.
