Modular Construction: Big Banks
This is a very large module at four foot by eight foot.
Two of these modules are required to make it work properly.
The following images will show how that works.
This is what I call a key image because it defines the number of tracks and where they are.
The only curves in this layout are 9" + 12" radius bank turns and 15" radius flat curves, very fast modules.
A lot of fast straight away in a row.
The first module is the left end.
The second module is the right end and is exactly the same as the first module.
This is what I call a flow image which shows where a lane exits each section of track on the module.
This image shows that it is a fair and balanced module pair with both lanes being exactly the same length.
Connect left and right together with the right offset 3" (one track width) back, as shown.
The only thing that remains is to connect the exit to the entrance.
When I had ten feet of staights between the two modules and a 45 across the center (exit-entrance) it measured almost exactly 5 miles in 1/87 scale.
A friend with a Stock Tyco X-2 F1 made a lap in 19.575 seconds. WOW!
